Artwork created for LegendeVii Mircea Eliade was a renowned Romanian thinker, philosopher, and historian of religions. He joined the University of Chicago as a professor in 1957, becoming a U.S. citizen in 1966 and earning the title of Distinguished Service Professor. Eliade authored 30 scholarly volumes and numerous literary works and philosophical essays, translated into 18 languages. He also wrote around 1,200 articles and reviews on various topics. His complete works would fill over 80 volumes, not including his diaries and unpublished manuscripts, highlighting his significant contributions to the study of religion.
